Scientific quality of the journal
The Editorial Board is responsible for all content published in the journal, and constantly strives to improve its scientific quality. It ensures that the affiliations of the members of the editorial board, the international reading committee and the scientific committee are mentioned on the journal’s website (https://afrosciences-antiquity.com/les-comites/ ).
Respecting the editorial line
The editorial board selects articles with impartiality in mind. It pays particular attention to articles that contribute to scientific debate. Any article presenting a pertinent critique of an article published in the journal may be proposed for publication.
Originality and plagiarism
Authors are scientifically and ethically responsible for the research they carry out. They may not use any authority to conduct research that contravenes the principles and provisions of the present code.
Authors must guarantee the originality of their article and not publish any text which, in any form whatsoever, could be construed as counterfeiting as defined by the French Intellectual Property Code. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements are contrary to the ethics of scientific publication and are therefore unacceptable.
Multiple or redundant publications
The article submitted to the journal must not have been previously published in the same or similar form, and must be entirely original. Authors undertake not to submit their article to a third-party journal during the evaluation period.
Conflicts of interest
Authors must declare any potential conflict of interest that could unduly influence the results and interpretation of their research.
Impartiality in evaluation
Editors and reviewers must recuse themselves in the event of a conflict of interest with one of the authors or with the content of the manuscript to be reviewed.
Similarly, any evaluator who knows that he or she is not qualified to evaluate a manuscript, or who knows that he or she will not be able to do so within a reasonable period of time, is required to notify the editorial office and recuse himself or herself.
In its decisions, the editorial office takes account of legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright infringement or plagiarism.
An editor or reviewer may not use in his or her research the data presented in articles submitted prior to their possible publication without the express written consent of the author.
Article evaluation process
Articles that do not conform to the editorial line of the journal or collection may be rejected by the editorial staff without an assessment report. Articles conforming to the editorial line are evaluated by at least two anonymous reviewers, unless the latter wish to sign their evaluation.
In the event of contradictory assessments, additional opinions may be requested.
Based on the reviewers’ reports, the Editorial Board makes one of four decisions:
1) acceptance of the text as submitted;
2) acceptance subject to minor or major modifications;
3) rejection with the possibility of resubmission.
4) refusal without the possibility of resubmission.
Erratum
Any author who discovers, after publication, a significant error or inaccuracy in his or her own work is required to inform the editorial staff without delay and to cooperate with the latter in publishing an erratum, or even in withdrawing his or her article.
